Binh Tay Market in Saigon Referred to by locals as the New Market of Cho lon, Binh Tay market is a wholesale market known for its bargains. 
It was built by a Chinese businessman, Quach Dam, after the original market was destroyed. A statue of Quach Dam was erected but later replaced with a grass altar. 
The market is large, and you can easily spend hours wandering through the narrow corridors separating shops, which sell all variety of goods. 
Food on the ground level is a particular treat, with both Vietnamese and Chinese favourites on offer.
